Weston provides complete Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) support functions, with a small core team of professionals and expansive pool of flexible corporate-wide resources. For this project, we assisted with the development of best management practices and tracked their implementation at facilities, and developed and maintained a website for document-sharing, including calendars, scope of work, and deliverables. This delivery model provides the best technical and business outcomes at the lowest cost for the compliance support programs we support.
Health and safety compliance support includes creating organized efforts and procedures for identifying workplace hazards and reducing accidents and exposure to harmful situations and substances.Environmental compliance means creating a systematic approach to complying with environmental regulations, such federal, state, local laws, and existing operating permits for the facility. Weston auditors conduct reviews of each facility for conformance to the company’s ISO14001 certified management system, which provides a framework to ensure compliance and continually improve operations to reduce the company’s footprint on the environment.Client-requested regulatory support for U.S. and Mexican facilities consists of help desk advice and conducting compliance reviews for verification and compliance support with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
A key project highlight has been the development of a regulatory register applicable to each specific state including local regulations applicable to each U.S. and Mexican facility. Compliance audits and Environmental Management System reviews are completed for each facility on a 3-year rotating schedule. The Weston team worked with each facility to develop corrective action plans for addressing issues related to hazardous waste management, underground storage tanks and above ground storage tanks, stormwater, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, and air permit issues. Our team supported corporate management in developing monthly summaries of open and closed action items. Weston training material was developed and conducted for the personnel shipping materials in accordance with RCRA, universal waste shipment and management, and hazardous material shipping (DOT). We ensured training materials comply with the stormwater pollution prevention plan, SPCC, and DOT requirements.
