Every day, people around the globe are exposed to possibly carcinogenic, man-made chemicals known as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). These chemicals can be found in common sources and products such as drinking water, household dust, fast food wrappers, and dental floss. With nearly two decades of experience in PFAS investigation and remediation, Weston offers innovative, sustainable, and scalable solutions to protect our communities and families from the potential health risks of PFAS.
Weston takes a proactive approach to solving project- and client-specific issues while staying ahead of regulatory developments and public health needs. To measure PFAS air emissions, we partnered with a national analytical laboratory to create stack sampling and analytical methods, one of which was adopted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as Other Test Method 045 (OTM-45). Our pioneering research and development (R&D) have made us the go-to provider of emissions testing services for manufacturers, processors, and handlers of PFAS, which is especially relevant as regulations are shifting focus toward PFAS air exposure pathways.
Our PFAS team members serve as leaders in organizations dedicated to providing public access to accurate, technically sound, and defensible data. These organizations include the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC), National Ground Water Association (NGWA), Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP), and Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP). We actively collaborate with university R&D partners to explore investigative and remedial options that safeguard human and ecological health and reduce costs for our clients.
