Weston is proud to announce the promotions of Chris Henry and Jon Brownstein to Senior Vice President. In addition, Travis Cooper, Tammy Edgington, Sam Irrinki, and John Sontag, Jr. have been promoted to Vice President. Joe Hockenberry, SVP and HR Director was named Chief People Officer.
Chris Henry, Senior Vice President
Chris Henry, with over 30 years of professional experience, is stepping into his new role as Senior VP and Army Client Sector Leader. He previously served as Principal Contract Administrator and Operations/Program Manager.
Chris has managed 17 programs for various Department of Defense clients, most notably USACE Omaha. These programs have resulted in over 260 projects, and $2.6B in sales.
Chris is a skilled project leader with a proven track record of success in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments. He was instrumental in securing and leading numerous high-profile projects, including responses to USPS Anthrax and Joplin Missouri debris removal following an ES5 tornado. Most recently, Chris led Weston’s response to provide emergency power to Puerto Rico after the island was devastated by natural disasters. These challenging projects, valued at over $1 billion, contributed to the company’s most successful year to date.
Jon Brownstein, Ph.D., Senior Vice President
With over 30 years of industry experience, Jon Brownstein, PhD, has made a profound impact on Weston. His contributions have led to his recent promotion to Senior VP, National Client Operations Director (CSL NCO) for Commercial, State, and Local. Jon joined Weston in 2023 as a director within Weston’s Strategy and Development Team. Since then, he has made a significant impact on the organization, bringing a fresh perspective to strategy and structural alignment that will put Weston on trajectory for growth and development. Within 4 months, Jon was promoted to VP CSL NCO Director. In this role, he worked with his team to improve year-over-year sales and profit, realigned the NCO’s strategy, and enhanced profitability across various sectors. He also restructured CSL business development to drive growth in state, local, and private sectors, promoting clarity, accountability, and maximizing ROI. Jon has had a profound impact on Weston as an organization and was recently promoted again to Senior VP CSL NCO.
Tammy Edgington, Vice President
With 34 years at Weston, Tammy has revolutionized our procurement department and is now VP Director of Procurement. She spearheaded the department’s digital transformation, significantly improving efficiency and streamlining processes. Her commitment to compliance is evident, with DCMA audits consistently yielding no findings.
Tammy is a dedicated and highly respected hands-on leader who mentors junior staff and fosters strong team relationships. She invests in her team’s professional development, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to succeed.
Sam Irrinki, Vice President
With 34 years of industry experience, Sam Irrinki, PE, has been promoted to VP Client Account Director for Commercial, State, and Local. Sam has significantly transformed Weston’s Water Wastewater practice. With Sam’s leadership, Weston increased growth from $1.4 million to $4 million. By August 2024, he led his team to $3.3 million in gross revenue and an 11% increase in net revenue. He collaborated with his team to grow our client base from just five to over twenty clients. Under his leadership, sales have experienced remarkable growth, increasing multiple folds over several years.
Sam leads a dedicated team of professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. He continuously seeks new ways to grow our services and partnerships.
Travis Cooper, Vice President
Travis Cooper, CCM, PMP® joined our team in 2019, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in managing major programs both domestically and internationally. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in leading our Secure Construction Growth initiative and expanding our Federal Construction Services business, significantly increasing our sales and market presence. In recognition of his contributions, Travis was promoted to VP Client Account Director.
Under Travis’s leadership, we have seen over 300% growth in Secure Facility Renovations and Infrastructure sales, highlighting his expertise and strategic vision. He played a crucial role in identifying and developing new markets and establishing key partnerships, such as with Bering Straits Global Innovations, which resulted in over $50 million in direct award contracts.
In addition to growing sales, Travis has led several high-profile projects such as the Emergency Response Water Treatment at the Aliamanu Military Reservation Red Hill Underground Fuel Storage Facility in Hawaii, which was recognized by USACE Honolulu as the 2022 Project of the Year.
John Sontag, Jr., Vice President
Since 1988, John has shown exceptional dedication at Weston and has made significant contributions as a Project Manager, Client Account Manager, and now VP Client Account Director.
John’s first major assignment was with a Confidential NY client. He led a large-scale site assessment program in Corning, NY, managing a team that successfully negotiated a Remedial Action Agreement to clean up over 40 residential properties. The critical role he played resulted in substantial billings and strong relationships with client representatives and relevant authorities. He also successfully negotiated a cost-sharing agreement for a major project, recovering 60% of remediation costs. His efforts have set a precedent for handling similar situations and positively impacted Weston’s financial performance, of remediation costs.
John currently plays a key role in projects for our Confidential Clients in Minnesota and New Jersey, where we anticipate growth in sales and revenues. He has established trusted relationships with client team members and is poised for continued success.
Joe Hockenberry, Chief People Officer
Since 2013, Joe has served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources, with responsibilities extending beyond HR functions. Recently, he was promoted to Chief People Officer due to his significant impact. Joe has developed and executed HR initiatives to support long-term strategy, foster a growth-oriented workplace, harness innovation, and encourage inclusivity. He also oversees talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
Joe enhances the employee experience through effective onboarding, training, career development, and retention strategies. He was instrumental in forming Weston’s KSOP, giving employees a greater stake in the company.
