Sites in areas that are already
developed, or urban in-filling, are the opposite of urban sprawl
and helps preserve green spaces.
Sites in mixed-use areas, where
residential areas are intermixed with commercial areas, allow
people to live where they shop or work, creating less need for
daily automobile use.
Sites near access to public
transportation further reduce the need for cars.
Using older, existing buildings can be the most environmentally friendly solution since the
renovation of existing buildings takes advantage of already existing
structures.
