LEED® Consulting
The Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System™ is a
system for designing and constructing environmentally friendly
buildings and focuses on five areas of human and environmental
health:
LEED®, developed by the U.S.
Green Building Council, provides a roadmap for measuring and documenting
success for every building type and phase of a building lifecycle.
WESTON’s LEED® accredited professionals have
extensive experience in incorporating Sustainable Design/LEED® into
construction projects. Starting from the planning phase throughout
the design and construction, WESTON evaluates a wide range of technologies,
techniques, materials, and strategies to incorporate sustainable
actions and ensure compliance with regulations while developing
high-quality facilities.
Project Examples:
Fort Hood: Completed a state-of-the-art
sustainable design for the Department of Public Works Environmental
Office Building on the main cantonment of the Fort Hood Army Post.
First LEED® Silver-Rated facility on that post. Design encompasses
a number of innovative energy- and resource-saving strategies.
In a parametrical sense, the building will use 20% less energy
than a typical office building of the same size.
Aberdeen Proving Ground: Led
the green design/build of the Canal Creek Groundwater Treatment
Plant (GWTP). GWTP was housed in an existing, under-utilized building
and avoided using green space to build a new facility. Design optimized
the available interior space and incorporated all process equipment
within the existing footprint. Design focused on process and energy
efficiency as a sustainable goal for site remediation. Incorporated
green features through material reuse, water and energy efficiency
design, and MEP systems design.
USPS: Performed a nationwide
study of landscaping practices aimed at reducing energy and water
use, controlling stormwater run-off, and lowering maintenance costs.
Data gathered was used to demonstrate the cost effectiveness
of implementation of similar practices at facilities throughout
the United States.
