Facility Siting Studies

WESTON delivers infrastructure redevelopment solutions that help clients meet their most critical goals. As part of this process, WESTON conducts facility siting studies to determine the best location for construction or facility expansion.

Siting studies may include an assessment of the regulatory environment, schedule, and cost to obtain:

  • Environmental permits

  • Resource availability evaluations

  • Baseline monitoring

  • File searches

  • Records review

  • Site inspections.

Typically, one of the longest lead times associated with construction is obtaining environmental permits. Of these, air permitting via the "Notice to Construct" or construction permit requires substantial pre-construction effort. We work with our clients' engineers, designers, and managers as well as local regulatory agencies during the pre-construction phase of the project to develop an efficient strategy for determining the best site.

Additional work such as screening, dispersion modeling, permit negotiations, and additional air pollution control device design may be required in order to site the facility to meet our clients' goals.
