Proven Experience

WESTON has been providing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) nationally for over 10 years, including:

Black & Decker Facilities Achieve ISO 14001 Certification. WESTON assisted 11 Black & Decker facilities in the United States, Mexico, and England in developing EMS and achieving ISO 14001 certification. WESTON provided a wide range of assistance, including development of an EMS Implementation Guidebook, training of Black & Decker personnel, provision of analytical tools and templates for use in EMS development, and assessments of certification readiness.

Product-Based Requirements Database Ensures Global Market Acceptability. To help this Fortune 500 consumer products company ensure the global market acceptability of its products, WESTON designed and implemented a Web-enabled database that tracked product-based EHS requirements. WESTON performs research on product-based regulatory and customer requirements, analyzes their relevance to this company and its products, and then houses the key information in a Web-enabled database that can be accessed by the company. To provide maximum flexibility, the database allows identification of relevant requirements by country, product type, packaging type, and/or type of requirement.

EMS Helps Massachusetts Port Authority Fulfill Its Strategic Vision. The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) runs Boston’s Logan Airport, two regional airports, and a number of port facilities. Massport is using EMS to help fulfill its commitment to sustainable design and continuous improvement of its environmental performance. WESTON is assisting Massport with EMS development at a number of its facilities. To date, WESTON has helped Massport achieve ISO 14001 registration at one of its regional airports and its commercial port facility, and is currently working on EMS development at a toll bridge. WESTON has worked hand in hand with implementation teams to shape EMSs for these facilities that fulfill Massport’s vision and maximize business benefits.

EMS Support for Ft. Sam Houston Assists in Fulfilling Executive Order Requirements and Sustainable Design Commitment. Fort Sam Houston is responsible for operating the Army Medical Department Center and School, and has established a commitment to sustainable design and development that accounts for and minimizes the environmental impact of its operations. The Army is responsible for compliance with Executive Order 13148, which requires implementation of EMS at appropriate federal facilities by the end of 2009. WESTON is helping Fort Sam Houston develop EMS, as well as helping to shape a long-term plan for utilizing EMS to maximize facility sustainability to Fort Sam Houston and its subinstallation, Camp Bullis Training Site, while maintaining mission needs.

Pre-Acquisition Assessment Reduces Risk in International Transaction. For this multinational electronics company, WESTON conducted an assessment of a facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and a facility in Buenos Aires, Argentina to ensure a full understanding of environmental liabilities associated with an acquisition. In addition to performing standard compliance audits in accordance with ASTM standards, WESTON also evaluated the status of EMS at these facilities.
