Dredge Materials Management at Intakes
Many water intake structures at treatment plants experience periodic sediment buildup. Some plants, constructed several decades ago, are for the first time, beginning to experience high sediment content in their intake water. This sediment is likely a sign of shoaling around the intake and should be addressed. WESTON has effectively permitted, designed and coordinated numerous sediment removal and disposal projects. WESTON has assisted their clients through the complex 401 permits for dredged material disposal and managed the dredging contractors to remove the sediments. WESTON has the expertise to complete all facets of the project including the hydrographic surveys to locate the shoal, model the local sediment transport regimes, and dredge template design to minimize future sedimentation.
