Sustainable Development Solutions
Put the Green in India Ecotourism Park
Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India
Project Highlights
- Public-private partnership that
integrates government agencies
with private sector to build a
sustainable tourist park in a local
community.
- Green development with botanical
garden, research and development
facility, green convention center,
nature club, and other attractions.
Increasingly, the private sector is helping governments decrease the cost of designing and managing programs using innovative public-private partnerships. Delara Tourism Corporation
Limited (DTCL), a Group Company of NCS, had a vision for developing an Ecotourism Park in
Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, and was looking to integrate green development into the
entire project. Construction is underway on the park, which will be a landmark facility destination
for tourists, families, and local workers—one that is a successful public-private partnership
benefiting the government of Andhra Pradesh, the developers, and the local community. WESTON to Integrate Green Vision Into Reality
Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®), through its subsidiary Weston Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., is
providing the integrated, sustainable approach to combine construction management and
green development in planning, engineering, and building the 128-acre, LEED® platinum-targeted
Ecotourism Park—the first of its kind in the region. The park will be a platform for
sustainable green development where major global and local businesses will be attracted to set
up shops, hotels, and restaurants—all designed to have minimal impact on the environment.
Located in the heart of Hyderabad and within 2 kilometers of Hitech City, the park
revitalization and development will provide educational and recreational opportunities
for local residents and the tens of thousands of workers in the area.

Building Green Public-Private Partnerships
The
Ecotourism Park supports the Andhra Pradesh government’s commitment
to conservation and India’s rich cultural background. In this
case, the government owns the forest land and DTCL is funding
and performing the improvements to the land. Andhra Pradesh has
immense stretches of forests that harbor 5,000 species of plants,
many disappearing due to encroaching population growth. The park’s
botanical garden and study center—located within the Kothaguda
Reserve Forest—will
preserve the rich flora heritage of the nation and facilitate
scientific study.

a commitment to sustainable design and development and will minimize environmental
impact by aiming for the platinum level of the U.S. Green Building Council
