West Chester, PA—November 1, 2017—Weston Solutions, Inc., (Weston) as Prime Contractor and a key member of the USACE Project Delivery Team, is proud to announce the successful startup of two generators to supply temporary power and help stabilize the electrical grid system in Puerto Rico. The generators can provide up to a combined 50 megawatts of electricity to the Palo Seco power plant near San Juan.
The safe startup and integration of these units under the existing Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) system, marks a major milestone in the repair of the power grid for Puerto Rico. In partnership with subcontractor APR Energy, Weston drove the project schedule in record time, connecting the generators to the local power grid within three weeks of contract award. Weston managed the startup and commissioning of the generators in coordination with USACE and PREPA, following multiple safety and diagnostic tests.
