WEST CHESTER, Pa., May 22, 2015 – The Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVFAC) honored Weston Solutions with their 2nd Quarter FY-15 Safety Award for Weston’s efforts at the Craney Island Fuel Terminal in Portsmouth, VA.
This award recognizes Weston’s exceptional project safety for work performed under a $10.9M task order to an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for the inspection, construction, and repair of fuel storage tanks. Using the NAVFAC Safety Evaluation Checklist, Navy inspectors evaluated Weston, and fourteen other contractors, in seventeen specific safety categories. Weston received the ‘highest, obtainable’ score.
U.S. Navy Commander Michael O’Beirne, P.E. shared his appreciation, “NAVFAC expects the highest level of professionalism and performance from our construction and service contractors. With respect to jobsite safety, these expectations include a committed, proactive, and well thought-out safety program that strives to eliminate all mishaps from our project sites. The safety of all government and contractor personnel is paramount. We are pleased to recognize Weston for sharing our common goal to ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of each workday.”
Weston President and CEO Alan Solow continued, “We’re proud of this achievement as it highlights our differentiators including an Emergency Modification Rating (EMR) and OSHA-recordable rates that are consistently and significantly under the industry norm. We mirror the Navy’s commitment and prioritization of safety and we are honored to receive their recognition for our safety management success.”
