WESTON Sponsors Small Business Forum October 20,
2010
NEW ORLEANS,LA — October
15, 2010 – Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®)
will sponsor a Small Business Forum on October 20, 2010, at
the Lindy C. Boggs International Conference Center at the University
of New Orleans. Ms Jo Ann Lawrence, Sr. Business Development
Specialist, US Small Business Administration, is the featured speaker.
Participants
will learn about WESTON Small Business teaming and subcontracting
opportunities in design-build construction trades, major equipment,
materials and supplies, and field and support services. WESTON
seeks Small, Small Disadvantaged, Woman-Owned, HUBZone, and
Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses in the local communities.
The Gulf
Coast states have been home to WESTON for over 35 years and
the company has responded to some of our nation’s most challenging
events in the region, including the Gulf oil spill, Hurricanes
Katrina and Rita, and the crash of the Columbia space shuttle.
They continue work in the marshes and wetlands on coastal restoration.
Through it all WESTON has a history of integrating local small
businesses into important roles on their projects. The statistics
speak for themselves. During work on the Phase II New Orleans temporary
pump station projects at 17th Street and London Avenue, 93% of
WESTON’s subcontracted work was to local Louisiana firms,
53% of that work to small businesses. Over the life of the contract,
77% of the contract value remained in Louisiana.
The
small business forum will provide a vehicle for making contacts
and growing community support and awareness of local contractors.
According to Scott S. Slocum, WESTON Vice President and Northern
Gulf Coast Profit Center Manager, “As WESTON continues to
expand business along the Louisiana Gulf Coast region, we are seeking
to expand the pool of qualified small businesses available to work
with us. The Small Business Forum is a perfect opportunity to discuss
shared goals and values as we look towards providing innovative,
sustainable solutions to our clients’ emerging needs.”
There
is no cost to attend. Please RSVP to Gay DiPhillips at 610-701-3071
