WESTON Employees Give Back Through San Antonio Food Bank
WEST CHESTER, PA — May 12, 2011 – On Wednesday, May 11, 2011, approximately 150 employee-owners from Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®) donated their time and talent in support of the San Antonio Food Bank. Projects included development of a Master Landscape Architecture Plan for a teaching garden plot that includes a planter to use for soil demonstrations; construction of a cedar pergola; garden, pathway and border rock enhancements; and packing monthly food boxes for 1,500 seniors.
"The work Weston Solutions is contributing is going to have a significant impact on our nutrition education program." says Eric S. Cooper, President/CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank. "Our ability to reach more people in need in our community and teach about square-foot gardening and good nutrition is going to have a positive long-lasting effect."
In the city for an annual leadership meeting, employees from all over the world were living the company's core value of Making a Difference. They joined local employees who often give back through programs such as Fort Sam Houston's Fisher Houses, Basura Bash River Cleanup, Marshall High School Navy Junior ROTC, Battered Women's Shelter, and Cinco de Guyos nonprofit activities.
Participant Patrick G. McCann, WESTON president and chief executive officer, commented, "At WESTON, we strive to make a difference in the world, but it starts by making a difference in the communities where we live and work. I am very proud of their passion and commitment."
The Marriott Riverwalk is donating all surplus food from WESTON's 3-day meeting to the San Antonio Food Bank. Sharing WESTON's vision, they routinely donate to the facility.
