Judd Peterson, Former Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Permitting Manager, Joins WESTON
ANCHORAGE, AK,
June 6, 2006 – Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®)
announced today that Mr. Judd Peterson has joined the company
as a Senior Project Manager to support and grow its Alaska
Operations’ service
to industrial clients and the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Peterson has lived in the State of Alaska since 1981. He has
been working on minerals exploration and environmental and permitting
issues since that time; first in industry, then with the Alaska Department
of Natural Resources from 1985 to 1996, and then with the Department
of Environmental Conservation.
“Judd brings tremendous background and advisory experience
with the State and the overall regulatory and permitting environment
to our operations that will be a tremendous asset to our continued
rapid growth in Alaska,” stated Patrick G. McCann, WESTON Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer. “As the natural resource opportunities
continue to boom in Alaska, with their related need for environmental,
permitting and construction support, he will play an integral part
in expanding WESTON’s presence in the marketplace.”
Scott Blount, WESTON’s Vice President for Alaska Operations,
commented, “Since opening this office in 2000, we have seen
our industrial support quadruple in size to where it now comprises
almost 50 percent of our work. This trend will only continue
and Judd will be a key resource for all of our clients ensuring we
continue to provide the level of quality technical service that has
fueled this growth.”
Mr. Peterson has 28 years of experience working environmental, exploration
and permitting activities; 25 of those working in Alaska. In 1985
he was hired by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources as Chief
of Mining Permitting and Field Operations. He was responsible for
the permitting of all mining operations on State land. In 1996, he
accepted a position with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation
(ADEC) to manage a state-wide program to conduct environmental assessments
and corrective actions for final closure approval by the ADEC of
drilling waste pits constructed in the State of Alaska. In addition
to his broad environmental and permitting knowledge, his field of
expertise is tundra remediation/rehabilitation, with a specialization
in predicting and managing the long and short term effects on permafrost
degradation resulting from tundra and surface disturbances in the
frozen ground of arctic permafrost.
Mr. Peterson has both Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science
degrees in Geology from the University of Arkansas.
