WESTON and Ortega Elementary School Build Outdoor Science Classroom

AUSTIN, TX — February 13, 2008 – On Tuesday, February 5, more than 100 corporate executives from Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON^®) and students from the Ortega Elementary School worked together to build an Outdoor Science Classroom at the campus located at 1135 Garland Avenue.

The environmental redevelopment firm’s executives, including Patrick G. McCann, President and Chief Executive Officer, led teams of students in activities such as weeding and trimming existing gardens, installing and preparing raised flower, vegetable and pizza herb beds, building and installing picnic tables, bird feeders, bird houses with “a spy cam” for student observation, a weather station and an on-site composter, and pouring and decorating concrete stepping stones.

Organizers of the firm’s “Make a Difference” event say that the project had two objectives: to benefit the community and to facilitate the teaching of sustainability principles. The Ortega Elementary School and WESTON share a commitment to education and providing tangible benefits to the communities where they live and work.
