WESTON Volunteers Help Revitalize New Orleans City Park

NEW ORLEANS, LA — November 3, 2010 – Approximately 100 volunteers from Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®) are working today to revitalize Storyland children’s park in New Orleans City Park. The volunteer effort provides the firm’s key front line leaders an opportunity to put into action one of the company’s core values—Making a Difference. The project will help City Park prepare for its annual Celebration in the Oaks event when nearly 120,000 visitors tour the park to view the holiday light display.

Teams of workers will restore the fountains around the Peter Pan/Captain Hook Pirate Ship, renovate the bridge over the new flowing river, update the pumping system, repair and paint the pump house, install new pathways, and enhance landscaping.

WESTON chief operating officer Peter A. Ceribelli and regional vice president Scott S. Slocum will be working with the team to complete the project and to present a check totaling almost $31,000 to cover the park improvements to Mr. John Hopper, City Park’s Chief Development Officer, and Mr. Jim Morrison, Volunteer Coordinator at New Orleans City Park.

Mr. Ceribelli commented, “Whether it’s been projects related to flood protection, coastal restoration, emergency response, port security systems, sanitary sewer systems, or emissions testing, our employees have been engaged along the gulf coast for decades. The event at City Park today gives our leaders an opportunity to give back to a community that has opened its doors to us and been a home away from home for many years.”

The Gulf Coast states have been home to WESTON for over 35 years, with local offices in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette. The company has responded to some of our nation’s most challenging events in the region, including the Gulf oil spill, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the phase II construction of the temporary pump stations at 17th Street and London Avenue canals and the recovery of the Columbia space shuttle.
