Former White House Leader Joins WESTON to Lead Green Development Business

WEST CHESTER, PA — October 27, 2010 – Kathleen A. McGinty has joined Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON^®) as Managing Director, Strategic Growth. Among other accomplishments, Ms. McGinty is former Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality under President Bill Clinton and former Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Secretary under Governor Rendell.

Ms. McGinty is the ideal choice to lead WESTON’s green development business based on her strong track record in creating economic growth out of environmental challenges, a key tenet of WESTON’s approach to green development. While serving as Secretary of the Pennsylvania DEP, she took on power plant pollution, in part by attracting more than $1 billion in new investments in clean energy manufacturing. Recently she’s worked to grow early stage clean tech companies that help deliver clean water and smart energy solutions.

Ms. McGinty will lead WESTON’s Green Development team, bringing unique capabilities and offerings into the market to help clients harness smart energy technologies and renewables, better manage water assets, remediate legacy pollution problems, and go green in buildings and real assets. WESTON will lead community outreach and visioning initiatives, take equity positions in projects, assume environmental liability risk, become an anchor tenant, and otherwise help to repurpose underutilized assets. WESTON’s Green Development team supports municipalities in community revitalization efforts and works with master developers in their complex redevelopment projects, all driving to solutions that offer positive economic, social and environmental returns.

While joining the WESTON team, Ms. McGinty continues her work on renewable energy and clean technology. She is an Operating Partner at Element Partners, a private equity firm with $800 million under management in the clean tech space, and on the advisory board at ACORE (the American Council on Renewable Energy). She is also a Director at NRG Energy, a significant developer and operator of renewable energy projects, and Iberdrola USA, a division of Iberdrola SA, one of the leading owners of wind energy assets in the world. “Ms. McGinty's work in this regard complements and strengthens WESTON's growing work in solar, biomass energy and smart grid applications," McCann said.
