WESTON Purchases Brownfields Property in Honolulu, Hawaii
WEST CHESTER, PA — January 9, 2008 – Weston
Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®) announced today the purchase of a 4-acre brownfields site in a thriving retail district of Honolulu with the intention of redeveloping the property and revitalizing its economic potential.
The property located at 616 Iwilei Road in the
Iwilei District of Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii was previously the
GASCO manufactured gas facility.
Patrick G. McCann, WESTON’s CEO and
President said, “The revitalization of this property is a perfect example
of WESTON providing sustainable solutions that work. We will leverage
our talents and technologies to continue to make a difference in a community
where we have had an active presence for many years.”
WESTON’s Real Estate Solutions team plans to remediate the property’s
existing contamination while repositioning it for redevelopment. The
site is zoned IMX-1, an industrial mixed-use zoning that permits uses
such as retail, industrial, condominiums and storage.
Peter A. Ceribelli,
WESTON’s Redevelopment Division Manager, stated, “This site hits the
bulls eye of the notional profile for our impaired property acquisitions.
We will aggressively work with all project stakeholders to build a trust
relationship and integrate their varying needs in order to drive a win-win
solution.”
The site is less than ˝ mile from downtown Honolulu. Adjacent businesses
include the Dole Cannery Building (formerly the home of the Dole Pineapple
processing plant), a Home Depot hardware superstore and a Costco Warehouse
superstore.
