WESTON Relocates its Regional Headquarters to Concord, New Hampshire

WEST CHESTER, PA — January 28, 2010 – Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®) has relocated its regional operations to Concord after revitalizing a former industrial property into a vibrant, sustainable “green” office building. This move is a “homecoming” of sorts, as WESTON’s offices were located in Concord for twenty years before the company moved to Manchester in 1996.

WESTON’s newly constructed building is located within the Horseshoe Pond Redevelopment Corridor and is conveniently accessible from Interstate 93 and 393. WESTON acquired the vacant site in 2008 and later deconstructed the blighted structures, recycling more than 95% of the demolition debris. Selective timbers and granite blocks were salvaged for reuse in the new building and surrounding landscaping. The project followed an integrated design-build approach that encouraged collaboration between the project stakeholders. This project exemplifies WESTON’s approach to sustainable redevelopment and revitalization of impaired assets.

The two-story structure was erected in less than 6 months and on budget. The building features innovative products and technologies that work together to increase the efficiency of the space and the comfort and wellness of its occupants. Among the sustainable features included are a geothermal heating and cooling system, automated thermal and lighting controls and a GreenGrid® vegetated green roof system.

Low impact site development practices such as an underground storm water retention system captures drainage. By eliminating storm water runoff, WESTON’s new building does not burden the City’s sewer system. Several architectural elements were incorporated into the building to highlight the site’s historic past. Project documentation has been submitted to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to achieve “Gold” certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) program.

Peter A. Ceribelli, WESTON Chief Operating Officer proudly spoke about the new office building, “We have transformed an underutilized property into a valuable asset using the same integrated process that we provide to our clients. This inspiring workplace illustrates our commitment to sustainability and green redevelopment in a manner that benefits our employees and the community.”

The interior space balances employee privacy with collaborative teaming and conference areas—just the type of space that fosters integrated problem-solving for which WESTON is known. Through an interactive touch screen mounted in the building’s lobby, green features and energy usage are displayed to educate visitors and employees alike about the project.

Todd K. Walles, WESTON’s Northeast Division Manager commented, “The revitalized property is a showcase for collaborative and flexible work environments that will be enjoyed by many for years to come. Best of all, we built green without paying a premium in construction costs. Through proactive planning and creativity, we incorporated sustainable practices and finished on time and on budget.” He added, “We are delighted to be back in Concord.”
