WESTON Wins Multiple Renewable and Sustainable Energy Contracts with the Air Force Civil Engineering Support Agency
WEST CHESTER, PA — July 7,
2009 – The Energy and Air Force programs of
Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®)
expanded further in June, continuing a pattern of growing renewable,
sustainable, and energy efficiency business globally with the Air
Force Civil Engineering Support Agency (AFCESA).
On June 16, WESTON
was awarded a $500,000 biomass and waste-to-renewable energy
feasibility study for Eglin Air Force Base—the world’s largest, encompassing
over 450,000 acres in northwest Florida. The project addresses
three vital energy issues on the base: energy security through
independence and diversity of on-site, renewable energy sources,
improving conservation and efficiency in consumption patterns,
and promoting a cultural change toward base energy use among
base personnel. Ultimately, WESTON’s feasibility study will be the
platform for energy recovery from biomass projects to meet federal,
Department of Defense (DoD), and Air Force goals for renewable energy,
on-site energy production, and fossil fuel and greenhouse gas reduction.
On
June 22, WESTON was awarded a $3.1 million Energy Conservation
Investment Program contract at Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts,
for the replacement, reconfiguration, and installation of a new
economizer system for the Central Boiler Plant. The project calls
for full integration of engineering, design, and construction activities,
including automation of existing systems with each of the four,
40,000 pounds-per-hour boilers, to ensure the base can meet
mission-critical steam generation requirements. Over the past 20
years, the boilers have decreased capacity by 25%, and this effort
will ensure that lost efficiency is captured in order to maximize
production and energy savings and eliminate waste.
On June 23, WESTON
was awarded a $2.7 million Energy Conservation Investment Program
contract to upgrade lighting and improve controls in Pacific operations
at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska,
and Kadena Air Base, Japan. This will be a design-build effort
to upgrade mission-critical lighting and controls to maximize energy
efficiency, while maintaining and improving lighting levels to ANSI
IESNA standards.
WESTON continues to extend its integrated renewable
and clean energy program services to DoD, federal agency, and state,
local, and commercial clients, offering energy efficiency, demand-side
energy management, and 1-30 MW small packaged renewable energy
solutions.
WESTON delivers integrated, sustainable solutions
for environmental restoration, property redevelopment, design/build
construction, green buildings, and clean energy. Dedicated to making
a difference in the world, the company’s 1,800 people reach
out from 60 offices around the globe to build strong stakeholder
relationships and provide solutions that work. WESTON has been
responding to our clients’ toughest problems for more than 50 years.
