WESTON
Named Outstanding Contractor by New England Corps of Engineers
MANCHESTER,
NH - December 4, 2000 - Roy F. Weston, Inc. today announced
it has received the Outstanding Contractor 2000 Award from the
U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District for sustained
outstanding performance, cooperation and professionalism as a
hazardous and toxic waste remediation contractor.
"We are very proud
to receive this award," said William L. Robertson, WESTON Chief Executive. "Our
partnership with the New England District has created a synergy
that is providing superior performance and building public
trust as the Corps pursues its environmental mission."
U.S.
Representative John E. Sununu (R-NH-01) praised WESTON's achievement. "This award
is a tribute to WESTON's commitment to the critical work of cleaning
up our environment," Sununu said. "The New England region is fortunate
to have the firm's reliable expertise available - expertise
that has time and again helped return once contaminated land
to productive use for future generations."
Presented only six
times in the last 20 years, primarily to small business contractors,
this is the first time the Corps has given the award to a large contractor
holding an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) remedial
action contract.
WESTON has been providing
environmental restoration services to the New England District for
the past six years under contracts valued at over $100 million. Work
has included the investigation and cleanup of hazardous and toxic
waste under the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund
Program and the Department of Defense's Environmental Restoration
Program. The company recently won the rebid of a remedial action contract
with a total gross value of up to $50 million and a Housatonic River
remediation contract with a total gross value of up to $150 million.
The Corps' award is
the latest recognition given to WESTON. In 1999, WESTON was one of
the recipients of the Vice President's Hammer Award for cost-effective
cleanup of the Charles George Landfill site in Massachusetts, which
was completed under two of the contracts WESTON holds with the New
England District.
John
Hammond, Manager of WESTON's Eastern Operations, congratulated the
New England project team, adding "We have renewed our commitment
to continue delivering value to the Corps as we move forward in
partnership with them."
An industry pioneer
since 1957, WESTON provides infrastructure redevelopment services
worldwide. With an emphasis on creating lasting economic solutions
for its clients, the company's services include site remediation and
redevelopment, infrastructure operations and knowledge management
to bring impaired facilities, land, water and other resources back
to productive use.
